Mom's Day Cheesecake

Happy Mothers Day! I wanted to do something special for my mom on Mothers Day and I knew she loved Cheesecake so thats what i did. I found this recipe online and It was really good. I dont think it was the perfect cheesecake recipe, but im getting very close.
The strawberries, my sister helped me with. She wanted to show me what she learned working at a chocolate store, so those are dipped and designed by her. They sure tasted delicious

Somewhere over the Rainbow

I asked a co-worker what kind of cake he would like me to make him. And all he said was that he liked rainbows. Ofcourse when he said this, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do for him. I didnt want to put a rainbow on top of the cake and call it a day so it took me a while but then it came to me. The inside of this cake was so interesting. this was the rainbow that he wanted.
Later, trying to asseemble everything, I ran into lots of problems but it finally came together and he loved his cake. When I do birthday cakes for people at work, They are impressed and they love everything about them. I am glad I get to enjoy baking and creating art for people and their reactions say it all. Its the freatest part about this for me.

Ice Cream You Scream

Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream with a chocolate chip cookie with chocolate chips surrounding it. This is my first ice cream cake. It tasted so delicious... ofcourse, since it has ice cream in it. This cake didnt take very long at all to make. It was a cake that I made for a co-worker. She was nice enough to share it with everyone and they seemed to be pretty impressed with the taste. I was happy with it.

Pretty in Pink

In my class, we worked with royal icing and sugar cookies instead of a cake. She taught us how to make drop flowers. and I didnt think they looked finished with just the icing, and so i added pearl sugar beads that completed the look. They turned out beautiful.

Sand on the Beach

This is the beach inspired cake that I did for a birthday party. It took long hours but It was worth it. The flowers are edible but the seashells are not. This cake is a yellow-butter cake with a chocolate buttercream filling and white buttercream frosting. I had also made cupcakes that went along with this. It seemed to be a big hit at the party. and I am very proud of it.

RAWR

Royal Buttercream! We have a love/hate relationship. Its fun to use, when it corroporates. haha I was the last one to finish in my class this week. The royal icing was too soft and it get ripping. But when I finally got it on my cake, I had about 20 minutes to decorate. So its not my best by far but I like it still. My tiger kind of looks like a bear, but I like him. haha

Fed Ex Guy

This was interesting. My co-worker Jamie's birthday was coming up and I wanted to do something very special for her. There is this big joke at work that she flirts with our Fed Ex guy everytime he comes into our store. (He flirts with her too though) She gets super excited everytime she even just sees his truck. So I knew I had to do this cake. The Fed Ex Guy (is what i call him) He has a mohawk and is good-looking. I thought I did his face really well. I had SOOO many problems with this cake. I was in the middle of doing it, and one of my brothers friends came up and ate part of the wheel. I was really mad because I didnt have much more supplies to fix the wheel. So the truck started to fall. It wasnt the most sturdy cake, but she absolutely loved it! I wish I would have taken a picture of her surprised face. It was priceless.

Marzipan

Last week in my cake decorating class we made a substance called marzipan. It tastes like almonds. I really liked it a lot. Its fun to mold different things with it too. I made a frog, watermelon, grapes, peas in a pod, apple, banana, and other things. I only had enough to make 3 different colors, so for example, the banana was purple.
I really loved my watermelon. I mixed the pink and green together to make a marble texture. It was pretty cool.

Buttercream Roses

Today was my practical test for my cake decorating class. The cake itself didnt turn out as good as i was hoping but I loved my roses. I think its the best ones that I have done so far. I got an 87% though on the whole thing.

Turtle-Turtle

Turtle-Cheesecake
My friend from Chick-fil-A was having her birthday and since I am incharge of them, I made her favorite... Cheesecake. But with a little twist. I sugarized Pecans and drizzled chocolate and carmel over the top. It was a big success. Funny Story:
I put this in the fridge at work so when my friend Alycia got off the clock, she could enjoy my present to her. But unfortuantely people go in and out of that freezer grabbing different things that we need for the store. One girl was reaching for a box and accidently dropped the cake. good thing she caught it... upside down with her hand. There ended up being a hand print in the middle of this dessert. When Alycia got home, she said she scrapped as much of it off as she could. luckily there was still some left for her to eat. She liked it. I wish i would have gotten a picture of the hand print. That would have been classic.

Birthday Cake

Giant Reese's Peanut Butter Cup

This is my Giant Reese's Peanut Butter Cup that I made for my friend. She loves Reese's. This is probably 10 times bigger than a normal one. I know how to make it look better for next time, but the taste... Its EXACTLY like the ones you buy at the store.
My friend asked me how to eat it... and personally I think you just have to bite into it instead of cutting it. Its wayy more fun that way.

Week Two

Well this is week number two of my cake decorating class. She showed us a few techniques that she wanted us to try. It was really fun but so frustrating because I wanted to be able to get these flowers down on how i do them right away but definately i will need more practice. Every week I learn so much about cakes. I love love love this class. Everyone should take it if they are interested in decorating cakes. Its so useful. We were able to play with colors this week. There wasnt a theme, just playing around.

ESPANA

My sister Missionary came home from Spain this week. I made a couple of cakes for her to come home to. I had lots of family who came. Although the black name tag cake turned everyones mouths purple, I thought it was still delicious. It was a cinnamon spice cake with a cream cheese frosting. My cousin Alex, who is also very interested in decoarting cakes as well, she helped me with these.

Week One

Week one of my Cake decorating class. I have already learned so much. Chef Maria wanted us to just do anything we wanted to our cake. It was a good way to see where everyone was at. I just played with some of the tips. I cant wait until the next time we meet.
I gave this to my family and to my friends. They are excited to get a whole cake every week.

mmm... CUPCAKES!

Well first off I wanted to say Farewell to my friend Lianna who is going on a mission for the LDS church. You will do great my friend. See you in a year and a half! I love you :)

These Cupcakes were for her. She wanted me to make her cake, and since she cant eat cake, I put a load of frosting on top. It was a lot of fun making these and very easy. Everything is edible on these. The flowers are made out of gumpaste which is just tons of sugar. They were a big hit! Definately one of my favorite editions to my blog.

Starting tomorrow and every monday, I am taking a cake decorating class so hopefully everyone will be able to see my progression on the things I actually learn how to make, not just make them up myself. haha

Coffee-Cake

Rasberry Almond Cream Cheese Coffee Cake... say that 10 times fast. hahaha well this cake recipe was found in the calendar that i had recieved for my birthday. It gives a different recipe for each month. This cake is for my family this time. They always give me a hard time for giving away all the cakes I make to everyone else. So I wanted to do something nice for them. I hope they like it. I ran out of a few things to make this, but I substituted those items with something else. haha I was a little nervous how it would come out so I guess we will just have to wait and see when they take their first bite. I picked at it somewhat and from my taste buds, its gooood! haha

Can You Say CHOCOLATE?

Happy almost Valentines Day! I had a good time making this cake after messing up the first time. haha I guess all the great bakers go through times of trial and error until they get it right... right? This is a yellow butter cake with fudge frosting. Chocolate covered strawberries with a chocolate wall. A girls best friend is chocolate... well atleast mine is. I cannot wait to dig into this one.

Cook Yourself Thin

Believe it or Not- Only 222 calories per slice. An orange and lemon cake with a secret ingredient. I am sure if I tell you what it is, you wouldnt try it. haha I was surprised how good this cake tasted. But i guess its a good thing when you can make a cake that looks good, tastes good, and is low in calories.

Its My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To

I am 19 years old today. I wanted to make my own birthday cake this year so i could practice. My family laughed at that. I guess everyone thought that its a little strange to make your own birthday cake. But i didnt care. So thats what i did. I put fondant over the cake for a smooth look. I also dyed the frosting underneath to give it a light pink textured look. The flowers are not edible. I am still learning how to do that. So maybe by my next cake, i may put some on that one. I painted silver glitter crystals on the cake to give it a little bit of a sparkle. It seemed to be a big hit at my birthday party. The cake didnt turn out exactly how i imagined it to look like, but im happy with the over all result.
FIRE HAZARD!!! well i thought the flowers might catch on fire but i wanted a picture of the cake all lit up. So after i took this picture, it started to go up in flames. But i quickly put it out and made a wish (i think). It was a funny moment, and no one got seriously hurt. Just a little burnt finger.

A Chick-fil-A Delight

I am a team leader at Chick-fil-A and i am also in charge of putting together a birthday present for everyone when their birthday comes up in the year. I have been practicing making desserts. This is the first cake i made out of fondant. I also made these cows out of modeling chocolate. The whole cake is edible except for the ribbon. I was very happy with the result and so was the person i surprised with this cake.
I am excited through this up coming year to create some more delicious treats for my co-workers. It definately gives me an excuse to be creative and try new things.
